Auto Detailing Training Explained
68As strange as this may sound, not everyone knows how to do everything (earth shattering - I know!). This is just as true of heart surgery as it is of auto detailing. Heart surgeons need to go to medical school to learn how to perform heart surgery and auto detailers need to received auto detailing training if they are to be success at their auto detailing business. You can't just expect to show up one day with a bunch of cleaning supplies in tow and be able to meet the needs of a diverse clientele who all may want something a little different from someone else.
This is why training is such a big deal. By learning from those that have done this before you you can gain insight and understanding on how to save time and money in cleaning up cars, trucks, and vans. Sure, there are people out there who can learn a lot by themselves. They can hole up inside a room with books and just sit, read, and learn about the most complex and intricate things all by themselves. Then when it comes time to practice what they have learned they are able to flawlessly execute it. But these people are few and very far between.
Instead, most people need to be trained by another person on how to perform auto detailing. For example, imagine being this auto detailer and having to learn everything from scratch:
You simply could not learn all these techniques and skills without at least some intial training.
Here are the top five reasons it is easier to learn auto detailing from a person than it is just going out and doing it yourself or trying to learn from books:
- You will learn by watching. Learning by using all of your senses is much more powerful than learning with just one. By getting auto detailing training from a person you will be able to see, hear, touch, and smell what it is like to be in the auto detailing business. This means that the lessons learned will be vivid, useful, and ready to be recalled very easily.
- You can ask questions during the process. If you have any questions you can always ask a person and get an immediate response. You cannot get that type of response from a book or even a video about how to auto detail. Instead, you have to go to second or third sources to be able to find the information that you are looking for. This can slow you down and makes things much more cumbersome. Personal detailing training is definitely the way to go.
- When you try it out you will have helpful eyes on you. Once the initial phase of training is past you will have to take over some of the tasks yourself. If you learned from a book you won't have someone to help you walk through the process in case you forget a step. If you are about to make a big mistake a book or video isn't going to be able to shout at you to stop before you ruin a paint job, but a person will. This make this type of training superior.
- You can take more risks. Another benefit of having a person training you in the fine details of detailing is that you are freed up to take more risks. Their knowledge, experience, and help will allow you to try things that would normally leave you begging a customer for forgiveness.
- You can have more fun. It is always more fun to work on something if you have someone working on it with you. Well, this is not always the case - like in instances where you really don't like the person that you are working with - but it si generally true. If you are getting trained by a friendly, helpful person it can be a real treat to be able to talk with them and work through all the ins and outs of auto detailing.
You absolutely have to find some quality auto detailing training if you want to make it in this business.
