Sometimes, you just have to go green.

No, I'm not talking about the "green" that is so common today in the news and in popular culture.  I am not trying to save the environment here.  I am just trying to find some nice softball cleats that fit my feet and don't look terrible.  I want something that is going to match my softball jersey.

As we all know, girls have a strong desire to have things look nice - to be pleasing to the eye.  They want their hair to look good, their clothes to be fashionable and pretty, and their appearance to be naturally appealing.  This does not magically shut off when they are playing softball.

Don't be that girl with green softball cleats that clash with your uniform - or else you might look something like this!

The Importance of Matching

Take a look at the picture to the left of a member of the USA Olympic softball team (which doesn't exist anymore because the USA rocked the world in softball too much for it to continue as an Olympic sport). Do you notice anything strange about her appearance?

That is right, her green softball cleats clash terribly with her uniform. They make her stand out in a bad way. This type of cleat to uniform combination is to be avoided. You want your cleats to compliment your uniform so that you look good out on the field.

You want your pitching, or your fielding, or your hitting to do the talking for you - not your cleats!  In order for that to happen you have to be smart about your choice of cleat color and pick something that is going to work for you and your team's colors.

Sometimes you just need a green softball cleat to go with your uniform.

How Much Matching Is Necessary?

Now, we can go overboard here and try to get everything to match with your uniform:

Going to this extreme is way too costly (especially when your teams color may be green one year and red or pink the next). So you should try and find some type of neutral color that is going to match with a lot of different types of uniform colors.

Black is great for this and luckily most bats, helmets, cleats, shorts, and bags come in this color. Now that is not to say that you can't have some of your items match in color - you just shouldn't go overboard for money reasons.
