It's 4 A.M and your telephone rings. You are startled as the sound of it jars you from a pleasant dream of mountain roads and blazing speeds. You reach for the phone and answer, "Who is this?"

"Hello Mr. Rogers, this is Karen from Keep My Stuff Safe Inc., your GPS tracking company. We are calling to alert you that your device has just left its geofence that you set up."

An explative escapes your mouth as you jump out of bed and race downstairs in your boxers. You are outside in just a second and you are at your parking spot in less than a minute. Your motorcycle is gone.

Just as quickly you are back into your apartment getting this motorcycle thief doesn't know who is his messing with. You turn on your computer and log onto your GPS tracking software where you find out the exact location of your motorcycle.

With that information, you call the police and report your missing motorcycle. You tell them that you have a GPS tracking device installed in your motorcycle and that you have the exact GPS coordinates of the motorcycle. Pleased with this information the police dispatch an officer to retrieve your bike right away.

You have your bike back shortly and thief that tried to mess with you gets some nice jail time.

As this story about motorcycle GPS tracking so clearly illustrates, this technology is very powerful. It has the ability to many different things that can be extremely useful to a motorcycle owner. Here are just a few:

  • Help notify family of your location. If you are a rider who likes to head out on the weekends and go for long rides in the mountains or countryside you probably are leaving someone home. This person may or may not worry about you, about whether you are safe, and about when you will be home to spend some time with them. If you have a worrier in your home, then GPS tracking will be great for them. With just a few clicks of a computer then can find out where you are, how fast you are going (to see if you are still riding, stopped, or in an accident), and get an idea of when you are going to be home if you have shared your route with them. That way they don't have to worry.
  • Help recover stolen property. Recovering stolen property is one of the best things about installing GPS tracking on your motorcycle. These devices are stolen much more than we would like to admit and making sure that we get our bike back is more important than ever. Nobody wants to have to deal with insurance companies so make that a thing of the past by getting a motorcycle GPS tracking system.
  • Be used in an emergency to help first responders find you. If you happen to get into an accident your GPS can be a huge benefit to a first responder's ability to get there and save your life. Hopefully you have worn all the proper safety gear - like riding pants, shoes, and a full face helmet - so that your injuries are not that bad, but even a minor crash could break bones in the hands or legs making it impossible for you to ride home.
  • Help you tell where you have been. If you like to explore on your bike and want to know where you have been then having a GPS tracker installed on your bike will let you see where you have been once you get home. You just need to log on to your GPS tracking software and you can see, on a GoogleMaps-like map, where you have been.

Finding a company to install and service your motorcycle GPS tracking system isn't that difficult. Just do a some searches on the Internet and you can find tons of information and tons of providers on how to use GPS for all of your needs. It just doesn't stop with your motorcycle!
