Patio Furniture Cushions
67Some patio furniture needs a good cushion. Without it the seat is just too uncomfortable to sit on for extended periods of time and you will end up not using your furniture as much as you would expect that you would. It can also be a little embarrassing to invite guest over to enjoy the cool of your patio and then to have to let them sit on something that is rather uncomfortable. Watching them squirm in their seats is enough to make a host or hostess sick to their stomach.
This can all be avoided with a good, high quality patio furniture cushion. If you get it right, your cushion can appeal both to your eyes and to your backside. Gone are the days when you had to baby your cushions because they were made of flimsy material or you were ashamed of how a comfortable cushion looked. Modern technology has made these cushions both durable and highly appealing to the eye. It has become a win-win for the modern day consumer.
What To Look For In Your Cushion
When looking for a cushion for your furniture you are going to need to look for a couple of different things:
- Make sure the cushions are comfortable to sit on - To me, this is by far the most important thing that a person can do when making a buying decision. If it is not comfortable and if it doesn't add to your sitting pleasure then why would you want to buy something like it? I know that I certainly would not. Today, finding a comfortable cushion is not very hard if you have some money to spend. Even if you don't have a huge budget you can still probably find cushions that are still relatively comfortable for your bum.
- Make sure your cushion matches the rest of your furniture - Some people need more than just comfy cushions, they also need them to look good too. For those of you like this then you want to make sure that your cushions are going to match the style and color of your other patio furniture. If you have resin patio furniture then you can go with a cushion that is big and puffy (if it is a wicker clone). If you have metal furniture with clean lines and a low profile you are probably going to want a cushion that is similar. Sometimes you just want a solid color on your cushion and other times you are going to want a pattern. It all depends on what you already have out on your patio.
- Get UV protection in your cushions - UV rays can really begin to damage cushions. They have a bleaching effect on them, draining color out of them like a vampire. This is bad for obvious reasons. Another thing that UV rays can do is begin to breakdown the fabric that the cushions are made of. This will significantly reduce the life of the cushion and make it much more prone to suffer from regular wear and tear.
If you can get all of these things and still be in your budget you are on good ground. If you have to give up two of these elements, I would recommend giving up having cushions that match. While some people will give this up last I would give it up first because my emphasis would be on comfort and durability. Other may choose differently so think about what will work best for you and your family.
Finding great patio furniture cushions is as easy as you want it to be. If your expectations are too high, just lower them a little and you will find hapiness. Just remember, that there are a lot of more important things to be spending your time and energy on than choosing a patio furniture cushion for your furniture.
